Payout scheme · PROP Live
Zcash PROP pool Each round's reward, split by the round's shares.
Proportional mining is the simplest pooled scheme: a round runs from one pool block to the next, and when it ends, the reward is split by the shares each miner submitted during it. On ZProMiners the split is written into the block's own coinbase.

How PROP works
A round starts when the pool finds a block and ends when it finds the next one. Every accepted share in between counts. When the round ends, the coinbase divides the miner reward by each miner's share of the round's work. A part under 0.0005 ZEC is carried over and added to that miner's next payout, so nothing is lost.
It is easy to follow and easy to verify: your part of a block equals your part of the round. Short rounds and long rounds share the same reward, so the value of a single share varies with luck.
Because each round starts fresh, PROP can reward miners who join only during short rounds. That is why most large pools prefer PPLNS, and why we offer both.
A good fit when
- You want the most straightforward pooled scheme to reason about.
- You mine continuously, so the timing of rounds does not matter to you.
- You like verifying every split against the round's shares.
Think twice when
- You want protection against pool hoppers: choose PPLNS.
- You want the whole block when you find it: choose SOLO.
- You need a fixed reward per share: wait for PPS+.
